Update to Let's Identify: These Evil Looking Lamps

Hey, it's Sunday, and I don't work too hard on Sundays. So here's an update to last Tuesday's Let's Identify : These Evil Looking Lamps

We never did identify them, but now they live at my house

Sometimes something will catch your eye. You'll know immediately that this was meant to be yours. I kind of thought that about these lamps when I first saw them a month ago in a local thrift store.

I think they're rather evil looking, but then again it wouldn't surprise me to see them in Bert Cooper's office either.

(Bert Cooper: a character on AMC's Mad Men who has an affection for most things Asian)

Today was the day I paid too much. I had to drop seventy five bucks for these two monsters. I think forty to fifty would have been much better, but what are ya gonna do? They were marked at one hundred thirty five and that just wasn't going to fly at all. So five minutes worth of negotiating later I was hauling them out to the car.

I'd still be quite pleased if someone would come along and tell me who or what these guys are. If you have any idea please feel free to comment.

Here are close ups of their faces.

I'm sure they're some kind of evil god from some mythos.

Definitely some restoration work lies ahead.

I do appreciate the detail though.

More detail.

I imagine these were fairly expensive back when.

These shades are opaque. The light shoots . . .

straight up and down casting an evil glow . . .

Don't know where I'm going to put them yet. Maybe up on the corners of the roof to ward off other evil spirits.

We'll be back later with . . . more stuff.

  1. I think you're right about those lamps being very expensive back in the day. The detail is amazing, and I really don't think you overpaid for them at all.

  3. Good god, Mr. How do you do it?

Immediately I thought "yeah, sure. Some wise guy" Then I looked at the author."Oops! This is worth looking up".

A google search of Nio confirms you're right on the money, Superman.
